Preston artist Lubaina Himid receives award at Harper’s Bazaar Women of Year Awards

Harper’s Bazaar, the world’s oldest luxury fashion, art and literature magazine, hosted its annual Women of the Year Awards on November 2 in partnership with Armani Beauty.


The awards ceremony, which took place at the Claridge’s Hotel in London, recognized the outstanding achievements of women in the fields of fashion, film, art, literature, music and activism.

Preston’s Lubaina Himid received the Artist Award for her powerful and socially engaged work, created over four decades, culminating with a historic solo exhibition at Tate Modern this fall.

Lubaina is Professor of Contemporary Art at the University of Central Lancashire.

His art focuses on the themes of cultural history and the reconquest of identities.
