Literary Arts Tent is looking for authors, illustrators and poets in Norwich, NY
The Colorscape Board is busy planning the return of the Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival, scheduled for the weekend after Labor Day, September 11-12. The festival attracts around 10,000 to 12,000 attendees each year and all the favorite things to do will be back for 2021.
There will be multiple stages of music and other acts, wonderful unique works of art to browse and buy, lots of great food and, of course, the Literary Arts Tent. This year the tent will also feature authors reading their books.
âThe literary arts are a very important aspect of our culture,â says Connie Dalrymple, Literary Arts Coordinator. âEvery year we try to make some of that accessible to people by organizing local writers and activities for kids and adults. It’s so special to hear writers perform their own works. It really opens up new ones. dimensions to old favorites and gives you a whole new appreciation for the author’s work.
Anyone who is a local author, illustrator or poet can email Dalrymple at [email protected] for information on how to get involved with the Literary Arts Tent.
A look back at the Colorscape Arts Festival 2019
The festival had to be canceled for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but is returning this year and will be better than ever. To celebrate this return to normal, this year’s marquee will offer a fun activity that will allow festival-goers to recover from COVID.
âThe pandemic has had such a huge impact on the arts,â said Dalrymple. âSo many events had to be canceled and so many artists had to face challenges in connecting their work with those in need. Ironically, at the same time, the arts have become even more important in our lives. -we made us without music, literature, video performances and art in our homes to entertain us and give us beauty and light in such a difficult time? â
