Emirates News Agency – 25 best-selling children’s authors from five continents to headline 13th Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival

SHARJAH, 1st May, 2022 (WAM) — A well-known group of 25 international children’s authors from 5 continents will lead a cultural program during the 13th edition of Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF), which will run from 11th May – 22 at Expo Center Sharjah.

Organized by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), the annual festival for children and young people this year takes place over 12 days and is themed “Creating Creativity”.

This edition of the festival will see Kyle Balda, an American animator and director, who has co-directed children’s films, such as Minions, and created the animation for Despicable Me and Jumanji. Big Noah Little Boa best-selling Australian children’s author Ken Spillman is also present at the SCRF. A successful mentor and presenter of writing and creativity workshops for adults and teens, Spillman has authored 90 books.

British author-illustrator Curtis Jobling, who is best known as the designer of the television show Bob the Builder, will be a celebrity present at SCRF this year, in addition to Sebastian de Souza, actor-author who wrote the best- saddle on time travel. adventure story, Kid: A story of the future.

Vashti Harrison, the New York Times #1 American children’s book author and illustrator, will also be at SCRF this year. His middle level books, Little Leaders, Little Dreamers, Little Legends, are a bestseller. She is also a two-time recipient of the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work for Children.

Claire Legrand, the New York Times bestselling author of eleven novels, including the Empirium trilogy, will arrive from the United States, accompanied by Kobi Yamada, award-winning author of children’s picture books, such as What Do You Do With An Idea? and what do you do with a problem? Shanda McCloskey, who writes and illustrates children’s books and enjoys talking to children about robots, drones and stories with words and pictures, and Alicia D. Williams, author of children’s titles such as Genesis Begins Again; and Nanette Heffernan, author of Earth Hour are other American authors present at the festival.

Under the theme “Creating Creativity”, the next 13th edition of the SCRF will see the participation of 139 publishers from 12 nations. A host of popular artists and experts will host 750 workshops and 130 art exhibitions and performances. The event will also host cooking shows, competitions and plays, among other interactive sessions.
